Operating Water Systems Without Loss of Service
Tapping
Hot, wet, and even dry tapping is the method of making a new branch connection to the existing main water or wastewater pipe without interrupting service on that pipe. In other words, cutting off residential, commercial, and industrial water or sewer lines is not completely necessary.
Peak Tapping Solutions’ tapping machine is mounted to the pressurized water or wastewater pipe and advanced using a carbide cutter and a pilot bit with a retaining clip that catches the “coupon” or cut section. The cutter and “coupon” are retracted, and the tapped valve is closed. Peak Tapping can offer full-service tapping solutions with trained and fully certified technicians.
Additionally, we utilize shared digital technology that allows you, our client or county inspector or GC, to see our work anywhere in almost real time with any device. We capture photos of our work, and upload them to the client's project folder. This action sends notifications, which allow our clients or inspectors to see the photos and notes of our progress in that folder while we are actively working on the project.
- No service disruption.
- No need to schedule city, building, schools, hospitals, etc. on water or wastewater shutdowns.
- Saves on costs, time, potential frustrations, and can be done on non-peak hours.
- We prevent any water contamination with each tap.
- Most of the time, our crews can be done with a tap in less than 45 minutes.
- Reduces city or contractor crew's time and costs.

Insertion Valve or "Insta Valve"
Valve insertion is the method of installing a permanent valve on an existing water, wastewater or other liquid pipe without interrupting service. The reason we do an Insertion Valve or "Insta Valve" is to eliminate the need to turn off the water to a much larger part of the water system. The convenience of doing an installation during peak hours without the need to shut down a water system provides a great deal of convenience to both a municipality or a community being served by the water or wastewater. This same can meet a number of needs with Industrial applications.
Peak Tapping Solution's certified technicians install "Insta Valves" for many reasons, but often when existing valves are inoperable. Sometimes valves cannot be located, are not functional, or have not been installed correctly.
In addition, we utilize technology that allows you to see our work anywhere in virtually real time with any device. We capture a picture of the coupon, air pressure, and any other component of the project, then upload it to your company's own portal. Whether you're at home, in the office, or across the globe, you can see that Peak Tapping is working for you.
- We do not have to interrupt the water system or disrupt water services to a community.
- This work can be performed in off-hours.
- We install most valves within about 45 minutes or less in most cases.
- This can be done in lieu of cutting in a water main which provides a huge safety element.
- We can place one for an emergency leak.
- Reduces the risk of water contamination.
- Reduces the amount of digging around the pipe for the valve installation.
- Saves time and money due to the safety conditions that a valve can be installed.

Water Line Stopping
Line stops are used to create a temporary point shut down of flow, to an existing water or wastewater main line without interrupting service on the pipe. The “bullet” is the mechanism that is temporarily inserted into the pipe to stop the flow and is sometime left in for as short as an hour to as long as a week, depending on the work that needs to be completed before pulling or uninstalling and capping the line stop sleeve.
There are several ways that Peak Tapping Solutions uses Line Stops. Everything depends on the project and all that needs to be accomplished. Current infrastructure is considered. Line stops may be installed as one stop or two, referred to as "dual line stops". Furthermore, we may use existing pipe infrastructure, such as existing valve/s that are already in place to work in tandem to stop the flow of the pipe. An example of this is a "dual line stop," where two line stops are placed on each side of the area of the main pipe that needs to be isolated. This can allow for the re-routing of the water, wastewater or other liquid in the pipe and divert the flow while the contractor is working on the section that has been stopped or closed to flow.
- Minimizes Service Disruptions of Water or Wastewater Systems.
- Minimizes Risks of Water Contamination.
- Minimizes the hassle of trying to coordinate with local water authorities and municipalities a schedule to shutoff and turn on water and wastewater systems to accommodate work that needs to be done on that system.
- Can Save Time and Costs depending on what type of work needs to be completed on a system or project.
